We arrived yesterday at 5 pm and the boys headed straight for the pool. Our hotel is very nice and we have 2 rooms so we can spread out ,have some privacy and use the bathroom uninterupted - Yeah!!  We went to a beautiful tapas restaurant around the corner. We got there early at 8pm and already there was queues!!!! We grabbed a seat at the bar when another group vacated which saved us waiting 45 mins for a table. The food was delicious and much cheaper than Paris. We had Chick/ham crouquettes , Grilled prawns, calamari ,clams in pesto, fried camenbert, spanish omelette, stuffed red peppers,a sausage dish, pototoes with aioli with a jug of sangria 3, desserts and coffee and it cost NZD120. After that we caught a taxi to see the musical light fountain. The setting was amazing- a whole boulevard of fountains leading up to a huge fountain sitting below a beautiful basilica on a hill. The basilica is all lit up and has waterfall fountains in front of it. There were , of course hundreds of people there watching it! We got back to hotel at 11.30pm.
Had a very yummy breaky at hotel ( included in rate) which was a step up from the cornflakes on our knee in Paris studio- haha. They even make you a gluten free baguette on request!! It was delicious and crusty!! Amazing
Went to see the famous Gaudi Cathedral La Stragada Familia this morning but by the time we got there the queue to get inside was 200 mt long. The sun was hot and we were'nt up for a 1 hour or more wait in line so we carried on to Park Guell also designed by Gaudi. It has the mosaic seats and sculptures and from the top a lovely view of Barcelona. We then headed down to La Ramblas , Barcelonas most famous street of shops ,eating and street performers galore. They seem to really specialise in the human statues and we saw some really fantastic ones. The boys gave up the ghost after lunch in the local markets and they headed back to play cards and swim while I spent a couple of hours looking through the food market and retailling!! Couldn't resist buying glaced mandarins, pears and  peaches, huge dates, candied nuts and fresh cherries the choices are endless!
Headen out to try a catalanian restaurant tonite and then Chris and I are going Salsa dancing - at leasts thats the plan if we can stay awake till 11pm when the club opens!!
